| Desription ......... In Heath Herring, cowboy style meets MMA toughness with crowd pleasing results, particularly in Japan, where Herring’s colorful hair and memorable antics, like entering the ring wearing a cowboy hat and trenchcoat, has delighted fans of K-1 HERO and PRIDE MMA franchises. Herring started fighting after high school in the Texas Shootfights, where his strength and standing and groundwork skills (not to mention his heavyweight size) served him well. Competitors should be warned: Herring’s kicks are second to none, and he’s a master of the knee strike. With his UFC debut in January 2007 (and a loss by unanimous decision to Jake O’Brien), Herring entered a new level of MMA competition, and has expressed gratitude for the ability to fight back home in the U.S.A. Notable victories include those over fighters like Cheick Congo, Brad Imes, Mark Kerr, Tom Erikson, and Evan Tanner. Herring trains at Las Vegas’ Xtreme Couture. |
