| Desription ......... Equally at ease behind the microphone as a UFC broadcaster as he is in the Octagon, lightweight fighter Kenny Florian has risen through the ranks in MMA rather quickly after joining the Mass Destruction ticket in 2003, with wins against Jason Giroux and Bobby McAndrews. Florian trains with his brother, Brazilian jiu jitsu black belt Keith Florian, with a growing skills set that has this MMA fighter poised for great things with the UFC. Kenny’s October 2006 loss to Sean Sherk at UFC 64 motivated him, and he bounced back with four consecutive wins, including Fight Of The Night Honors at UFC Fight Night 13 with a TKO by strikes victory over Joe Lauzon. Florian is emerging as a contender for the UFC lightweight title, and it seems that in the years to come, after he retires from the Octagon, Florian has a bright future as a ringside commentator (none other than UFC President Dana White has praised Florian’s gift for calling a fight after he filled in for Joe Rogan at UFC 83). Florian is also the current host of MMA Live for ESPN radio. In addition to besting Lauzon, other notable wins by Florian include victories over Din Thomas, Alvin Robinson, and Dokonjonosuke Mishima. |
